recently my twitter experience has spiked. thus prompting a search for an application to manage the flow of tweets. twitterrific was an application that offered very basic options for tweet management. it is also an application which i have used before and deleted off my system once and reinstalled months later.

through searching the web for applications i found two adobe air based twitter desktop applications.

the first was twhirl which many twitteraddicts already know of. twhirl was not a new finding, as i had previously heard about it. for some reason i was reluctant to try it out in the past months. until today that is. the application is very user friendly with many options to manage your twitter experience. the customization options are nice as well. i personally like the transparency option for the application windows. an option i did not see in other applications. twhirl is my first choice in twitter desktop applications due to its simplicity and manageability features.

tweetdeck is the second twitter desktop application i installed. the first thing i noticed was the window size. not so compact, and a lot of things going on at one time within three columns. this was the default settings which can be changed to a single column view. not as obviously user friendly to some i am sure. although the grouping options seemed attractive i am not sure that i would actually use the feature.

this is the first day of these applications and it seems that twhirl has rubbed me the right way from the start.

feel free to check them out. they are free, with an option for donation.

also check out the adobe air app feedalizr (http://www.feedalizr.com) it's a full twitter client, but you can add your friendfeed and flickr updates too.
